2: Star Senior Citizens Red Carpet Health Insurance Policy – This policy is specifically geared towards the needs of senior citizens and provides them with all the privileges generally required for those aged 60 years and more.

3: Star Comprehensive Insurance Policy –This is Star’s most comprehensive plan and provides a lot of options for individual and families. This policy has automatic restoration and covers over 400 day care procedures.

4: Star Medi-Classic Insurance Policy (Individual)– This plan is often preferred by families as it provides health check-up benefits and bonus option.

5: Star Health Gain Insurance Policy - This unique plan offers fixed premium across all sum insured ranges and allows policyholders to carry forward unused outpatient benefit to the next year.

6: Star Super Surplus Insurance Policy - A Top Up Plan that offers higher sum insured at economic premiums. The plan has no pre-acceptance medical required and is available for individuals and families.

7: Star Unique Health Insurance Policy –This policy is specially crafter for individuals looking for co-pay benefits and two-years of policy coverage.

8: Star Diabetes Safe Insurance Policy -Geared towards covering complications that arise out of Diabetes Type 1 and 2. There are two types of plans available under this policy – A and B.

13. Star Net Plus – This policy is geared towards helping HIV positive individuals and needs Governmental agencies, NGOs and registered societies serving persons diagnosed as HIV positive to propose the policy.

14. Star Care Insurance Policy – The policy is available for individuals and families residing in Tier I and Tier II cities. It also provides hospital cash benefit if the treatment is undertaken in a Government hospital.

15. Star Criticare Plus Insurance Policy – The criticare plus policy offers coverage for 9 critical illnesses and also covers non-allopathic treatment upto a certain limit.

  • Ambulance expenses – Ambulance charges for emergency hospitalisation covered upto a specific limit. Air ambulance charges are also covered up to 10% of basic sum insured.
  • Day-Care Procedures - The medical expenses for all day-care procedures, which do not necessarily require 24 hours of admittance, will also be covered
  • Domiciliary Treatment–Treatment of illness done at home, which would normally need hospitalisation will also be covered in the policy.
  • Organ Donor–Covers treatment expenses for organ donor.
  • Daily Cash for Choosing Shared Accommodation–The policy entitles the insured person to lump sum amount for choosing shared accommodation at a hospital.
  • Emergency Ambulance–Expenses incurred for emergency ambulance service will be reimbursed (up to Rs.2000)
  • Health Checkup–Expenses towards health check-up are covered upto a certain limit.
  • New Born Baby cover – Cover for new born baby starts from 16th day after birth up to 10% of sum insured or Rs. 50,000, whichever is less.
  • Restore Benefit –This policy enables the basic sum assured to be reinstated once it has been exhausted during the year.
  • Emergency Domestic Medical Evacuation –Expenses incurred while travelling an insured person from one hospital to another is covered upto a certain limit.
  • Compassionate Travel - The policy covers travel charge of transferring a patient from one hospital to another via flight.
  • Repatriation of Mortal Remains –The policy covers expenses borne to recover the mortal remains to the residence of the insured up to Rs. 5000.
  • Lump-sum for Treatment in Preferred Network Hospital –In case of emergency hospitalisation, the policy offers lump sum for treatment at a network hospitalisation of 1% of basic sum insured up to Rs. 5000.

  • Additional Sum Insured for RTA(Road Traffic Accident) -If the insured person is involved in a road accident which results in in-patient hospitalisation, then the sum insured will be increased by 25% up to Rs. 500,000.
  • Bonus - A bonus of 25% of the expiring basic sum insured is available after a claim free year. Additional 10% for subsequent years (max.100%) would be allowed.

  • After such you will be provide the option to take a look at your policy and pay for renewal via online payment.

3. Are my existing diseases covered?
Existing diseases covered after 48 months of continuous coverage with Star. There are exceptions in illness specific policies like policies designed for diabetic patients, cancer patients, HIV positive patients etc

4.Does health insurance cover diagnostic charges like X- ray, MRI or ultrasound?
All diagnostic charges like X- ray, MRI, blood tests etc are covered if they are in relation to hospitalisation for at least 24 hours.

5. Is a medical check-up necessary before buying a Health policy?
Medical check-up is necessary for persons aged 50 years and above.

6. What is the maximum number of claims allowed during the year?
Unlimited number of claims is allowed during the year up to the maximum exhaustion of sum insured.

7. How to claim for pre and post hospitalization?
The claim documents for pre and post hospitalization should be submitted within a specific number of days of completion of treatment or period. Post hospitalisation expenses capped at 7% of sum insured upto a maximum of Rs. 5lacs.

8. Does any health policy cover expenses on outpatient treatment also?
Usually policies cover only in-patient treatment but the Star Health Gain policy covers out-patient treatments.

9. Can foreigners avail policy or is it restricted to Indian nationals?
Foreigners living in India can avail policy but the coverage will be limited to India.

10. Does the list of hospitals remain the same?
The list of hospitals may or may not change and Star Health Insurance reserves the right to modify, add or restrict any network hospital for cashless services available under the policy.
